At Stop 1, we will explore the United States prior to the start of the war and learn about the issues that led the states into the war.
At Stop 2, we will look at the issue of slavery and its effect on the United States. We will take a close look at the Underground Railroad, learn about the Dred Scott case, and also learn about the timeline of events that occurred leading up to the Civil War.
At Stop 3, we will look at how the war and its challenges divided the nation. We will look at the different battles that were fought, the strengths and weaknesses of both sides, as well as some of the key points from the war.
At Stop 4, we will learn about the Emancipation Proclamation, the turning points in the war, the Gettysburg Address, and how people on the home front contributed to the war effort.
At Stop 5, we will examine the events that led to the end of the Civil War.
At Stop 6, we will explore how the South changed after the war, the new amendments to the Constitution, and how slaves were impacted.
At Stop 7, we will create a timeline of key events in the Civil War to help us better understand the war and the impact it had on history.
